We have started a collaboration with Macy to make a sand-dig that usually are done with dinosaur bones but will instead be done with 3D printed microbes that are found in the different levels of soil that Macy has sampled. We have a spreadsheet that she has sent that outline a few microbes found in each level, and have found representative pictures to begin having 3D models made out of.

Next steps:

  • Finish making 3D representations of each microbe
  • Buy colored filament to print the microbes with
  • Print representations of each microbe
  • Make the sand scratch bricks, figure out what the best scraping tool would be and see if they are expensive to buy in bulk
  • Make a distribution plan and curriculum card that explains tiers and what microbes are there that can be shipped with the dig kits
    • Maybe check in with the County Library?
