Web Development Summer GA position in the Rocky Mountain Herbarium

The Rocky Mountain Herbarium (RM) in the Department of Botany, in partnership with the Wyoming Natural Diversity Database (WYNDD) is seeking to hire a Graduate Student Research Assistant for summer 2022 to aid in the development of a new Digital Flora of Wyoming web site. The Digital Flora web site will provide photographs, distribution maps, species descriptions, and identification tools for the vascular plants of Wyoming.

Primary responsibilities for this GA will be to assist with initial development of the Digital Flora web site framework, integrate existing RM and WYNDD data services into the web site, and load photos and metadata into an associated photo gallery application.

The Graduate Assistant will be funded at the UW PhD rate from May-August (stipend: $5,715, tuition and fees: $425). 

Successful applicants will have experience developing secure, dynamic web sites using MySQL or MariaDB server (or comparable relational database software), PHP, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.  Experience with development libraries such as jQuery or ReactJS is helpful but not required.

Botanical experience is not required.
