Wind River Involvement
After the San Francisco trip, we decided that the best way to involve the Wind River Reservation would be to find a project that would not only be microbe-focused, but also important to them. The Star Stories exhibit at the MAX Festival integrated a photography exhibit in which the photos were taken by Lakota youth with a specific belief of cultural importance. We would be interested in emulating this approach with the Microbestiary, with a little more emphasis on the science side of the chosen topic.
Following a short discussion, the Microbestiary team would like to make a trip down to the Wind River Reservation, specifically the cultural center, and maybe meet up with our partners there to discuss some of the options/ideas that we have moving forward.
- Erin Bentleysend an email to the EOD and Reservation partners discussing the potential trip and the goals of said trip
- Report: Emily Vercoe responded–she's going to talk about the bestiary with Tarissa next time they meet. She'll also inquire about artists on the reservation and the best way to contact them.
- Pick some dates later in the summer that will work for at least 2-3 bestiary members + any interested partners to make a day trip down to the Reservation
- Can reach out to artists on the Wind River Reservation to be contributors on bestiary material
- Erin Bentley will Reach out to Emily Vercoe about booths/involvements with the Reservation
